Dave's Facebook Memories Pushed Him To Drop 47kg
Share
Hi gents, I’m Dave and I lost 47kg with The Man Shake.
Facebook memories, for many, is this lovely slice of the internet that fills you with nostalgia and happy memories. Well… not so much for me.
I saw how out of shape and overweight I had become. I had lost my way and fallen so far.
All I could see was my time running out. I needed to do something to avoid missing out on any time with my wife and daughter.
I’d seen ads for The Man Shake all over the place.
They looked pretty good, and it was worth the try.
I stood on the scales on April 6th, 2023, and that damage was 115kgs.
I immediately had a goal in mind – 75kgs.
I chose to go with a “slow burn” approach.
I would have a poached egg on wholemeal for breakfast, a Man Shake for lunch, and a dinner of steamed veg with either chicken, fish, or steak.
My snacks would be an apple, mixed nuts, or a protein bar like a Man Bar.
This would come to around 1800 calories per day.
I made sure to keep active too. I would walk 14,000 steps per day, every day.
And it worked!
Something I always say and encourage people with is little changes make for big results
For me, the key was creating a routine that I could keep as consistent as possible without coming bored. We don’t want our journey to feel like a chore!
If I had to pick, I would consider Coffee flavour my favourite. I do find all the flavours very nice though. I do like to throw in a banana into my shake to mix things up.
If you are wanting to start your weight loss journey, here are some of my tips:
- When getting started, make small changes so it's not so overwhelming, and run your own race.
- Don't compare yourself to others because we all lose at different rates. Take it slowly and make your loss sustainable. 400 to 600 grams a week is a great result.
- The journey doesn't stop once you hit your goal. It's all about learning as you go and setting yourself up for a better, healthier life.
It's been a long and hard road, but dedication, willpower, and support from The Man Shakers Community Group is helping me stay on the path.
I feel the fittest and healthiest I have in 20 years.
My daughter told me recently how she's so “very happy to see me fit and healthy again”. This time last year she was trying to figure out how to tell me I needed to do something, and now she no longer needs to have the conversation. These are the moments that make it all worthwhile.
To The Man Shake, thank you.
But remember… Little changes make big results.
