Is Your Gut Telling You It’s Time? Top Reasons for Belly Fat

Young blokes seem to pay more attention to how they look today than a decade ago – especially when they’re “on the market”! But here’s the thing with our gut. It can just creep up on you.

Here's the top 3 pain in the gut reasons you get a ‘GUT FEELING':

  • Decreased Testosterone: Testosterone plays a key role in fat distribution. As we start clocking up the years, unfortunately our testosterone levels naturally decline. While we may think we can still go like a rabbit, we are not as “primed” as we were in our 20s. So, our bods start storing more fat around the middle – in that familiar abdominal area.

  • Muscle Loss: It’s true, muscle burns more calories than fat. With age, men tend to lose muscle mass, further slowing down our metabolism and making it easier to gain weight, especially around the gut.

  • Calories Up, Exercise Down: Little-by-little, it all adds up. We unknowingly consume more calories than we burn – especially if we don't adjust our diet to cater for a slower metabolism. Most of us are not playing as much sport or getting out and about as much. Work, being a Dad, spending time in the Man Shed all sidetrack us from physical activity. So, as we clock up the years, we clock up the kilos.

So, at The Man Shake we fix it with 3 simple steps:

  • Maintain a healthy diet: Focus on whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. The Manshake kicks in and helps control the number of calories you eat. It’s packed full of slow burning protein to keep you fuller longer along.

  • Regular exercise: Aim for at least 30min of moderate exercise a day. Yep, it’s cold outside, but you’ll feel more alive after a brisk stroll with the dog or listening to your favourite podcast.

  • Then (and only then) strength training: When you are feeling a bit more energised you can resume building muscle mass. That helps boost metabolism and burn even more calories.

By getting your head back in the game around on diet and exercise, you can improve your overall health. That then reduces the risk of the scary stuff like heart and diabetes problems.
